The opportunity (Karioi Pulpmill and Tangiwai Sawmill) Winstone Pulp International Limited (WPI) has two operational sites in the Central North Island that manufacture wood pulp products (Karioi Pulpmill, a lower-tier Major Hazard Facility) and sawn timber (Tangiwai Sawmill) from renewable plantation pine for domestic and export markets. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Health and Safety Manager is a member of the Senior Management Team.
We are looking for a practical professional who will drive the strategic H&S direction for the organisation, providing strategic thought leadership, translating strategic intent into advice, plans, programmes of work and assurance to the senior team on all matters relating to safety and health risk management. The Manager H&S is WPI’s technical H&S expert who will work collaboratively within a diverse workforce.

We are seeking to recruit a suitably skilled and experienced person to join our Electrical team at Karioi Pulpmill. This is a permanent, fulltime position. Karioi Pulpmill is located close to the small yet well facilitated towns of Ohakune and Taihape.
Candidate requirements include;
§ a minimum of Level 4 Electrical trade certificate
§ a full NZ EWRB registration and a current practising license
§ demonstrated technical ability and proven success on site as part of the electrical team

The opportunities (Tangiwai Sawmill, Ohakune, Central North Island)
We have an opportunity available for a suitably qualified and experienced person to join our Mechanical maintenance team at Tangiwai Sawmill. This is a permanent, fulltime position. Tangiwai Sawmill is located close to the small yet well facilitated towns of Ohakune and Taihape.
About you
All candidate requirements include;
§ Trade certificate in Fitting and Turning Level 4, Maintenance and Diagnostics or similar is preferred.
§ Demonstrated technical ability;
o maintenance experience of heavy machinery and plant.
o A working knowledge of hydraulics systems, and an ability to understand schematic drawings would be advantageous.
§ Hold a Full Class One New Zealand driver’s license and hold or be able to obtain a Forklift endorsement.
§ Demonstrated awareness of, and utilisation of workplace Health and Safety systems.
§ Physically fit, able and mentally alert, including the ability to work in confined spaces.
§ Availability for mechanical callouts, participation in the on-call roster and to work overtime.

Graduate Engineer(s)
The opportunity

We are currently seeking Graduate Engineers to join the WPI team on completion of the current academic year. These opportunities are for a one-year, fixed-term. The Graduate Engineers will gain general work experience and understanding of the business operations. Ongoing support and development opportunities are provided along with peer support from previous graduate engineers who have taken on permanent engineering roles within the business.
The Pulpmill and Sawmill are located close to the small yet well facilitated towns of Ohakune and Taihape. Start date for successful candidates is flexible.

WPI are seeking keen candidates who can demonstrate a practical aptitude to join the WPI Maintenance teams at both the Tangiwai Sawmill and Karioi Pulpmill.
Completing an apprenticeship in the maintenance strand of National Certificate in Engineering (Level 4) will give you the opportunity to learn about tools, materials and metals, fitting, basic machining, welding, maintenance, assembly, hydraulics and fabrication. On successful completion of the apprenticeship you would become a fully qualified tradesperson in maintenance engineering.
Usual hours of work are a minimum of 40 hours per week, worked between 6.00am and 5.00pm, from Monday to Friday. It is anticipated the apprentice will be available to work rostered day and evening shifts alongside our maintenance team.
The successful candidates will be employed by ETCO and assigned to WPI as the host
workplace. The preferred candidate will be required to undertake a 14-day pre-employment residential electrical training induction at the ETCO training facility in Ramarama, in the Bombay Hills south of Auckland. On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be a fully qualified tradesperson, with a National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Level 4).
Hours of work with WPI as an ETCO Electrical Apprenticeship are typically 40 hours per week, worked between 6.00am and 5.00pm, from Monday to Friday.

These are permanent, fulltime positions working a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Hours are dependant on site placement, with the opportunity to work overtime as required.

All candidate requirements include;
• A genuine interest in and aptitude for mechanical and/or electrical maintenance.
• Demonstrated work experience in a similar role preferably with an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Competent in the use of hand tools would be advantageous.
• Physically fit and mentally alert – able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Demonstrated awareness of, and utilisation of workplace Health and Safety systems.
